The FreedomTax Explained
The FreedomTax restructures the income tax to free most Americans from having to file a personal income tax return.
Simplification of the code and making the system tax-neutral and more efficient, particularly with single low-rate taxation, frees businesses from the heavy compliance costs and economic drag under the present system.
The FreedomTax assures that all income would bear its fair share of the income tax burden. It would reduce the tax code by 95%, bring freedom from IRS intrusion in the personal lives of Americans and, important to maintaining a free democracy, its reduced and improved structure would preclude use of the income tax as a weapon of the IRS against political opponents.
The FreedomTax would require a far smaller, less intrusive administrative agency and this only to perform needed ministerial functions. No longer needed would be the large, powerful, and omnipresent IRS to keep our archaic and inefficient income tax system running. Its successor would be a modest, low-budget, non-intrusive Treasury Department agency with benign administrative duties. The FreedomTax will end the IRS, as we know it. To the average American, this will be equivalent to abolishing it.
